Sometimes

I just wish I had someone to talk to this late at night.

The leaves follow me to my temporary home
Along the beat up gray paved road, that borders the tan fields of dead grass
Behind barbed wires, as if the gold hue is to be protected
The vineyards and orchards who’s rows pass just slow enough to peer through.
Their branches dry, barren like a bone with no flesh
The dirt rises as the wheels roll past picking up the fallen leaves
From the moist morning ground
The leaves follow me

Coming from the cracked sidewalks of the city that border the tan dirty buildings
Locked from sight as if they contains valuables, I might steal
The vacant lofts surrounded by roads and alleys I’ve never explored
The streets and rooms lacking color, missing life
Smoke rising as I pass, traveling with me
As the wind carries the red, orAnge, brown leaves
Falling from the trees, lifted from the dry deserted street
When I depart
The leaves follow me
